Happily Ever After

// February 23rd, 2004 // 2 Comments » // tagged:

I like it when a TV show wraps up with neat little bows around all the storylines. It's even better when there is promise of a movie and they STILL wrap things up with bows. <-- DISCLAIMER --> If you haven't watched the series finale of SATC, stop reading now if you don't want to be spoiled. <-- --> Miranda ... It's only taken seven years, but Miranda's heart finally grows up. I think Magda was right when she said Mir could love and she showed it in selflessly offering to have S teve's mom live with them after her stroke, and then even bathing her after an especially sad episode of incoherence. Miranda's is probably the most realistic ending .... living in cool house in Brooklyn with her family. Still working, but having a real life. Charlotte ... it was so thoughtless of that couple to use Charlotte and Harry just to see New York - when they knew they weren't going to let them adopt the baby. :cry: I loved the scene where Charlotte is the one comforting Harry -- and she is sure that that wasn't their baby anyway. And when Harry comes in with the envelope and picture -- we all just knew it was the perfect baby for them! I'm sure we'll get to see the munchkin in the movie. Samantha ... loved Smith telling Sam he'd gone to counseling to help him deal with her having cancer and then sending her those not-yet-blooming flowers; it was great having Sam call Smith and tell him she wanted him to not be with other people; and Smith just keeps on getting sweeter by flying back to NY from his movie set just to tell Sam he loved her! Carrie ... I'm glad they sewed up her storyline as they did. She needed come to the realization that Aleksander and Paris weren't for her -- all on her own. I don't think he meant to slap her or break the necklace ... but he's still a selfish egotistical guy who, like his ex said, didn't really want Carrie to have her own career (hence guilting her into not going to her party so she could go to his with her, and asking her to movie to Paris in the first place - he obviously didn't take her work seriously). So it was great to have her leave him all on her own, without any outside influences (i.e. Big!) Thankfully, Big didn't come into the picture until she had already decided to end things with Petrovsky. He comes in at just the right moment, and from that moment we knew things were going to be ok. He gets choked up FINALLY telling her she is THE ONE. Yes! Big and Carrie forever! :heartbeat: We finally find out Big's name -- JOHN -- and learn he's selling the house in Napa and moving back to the Big Apple to be with Carrie. Could it be? A happy ending for all? It will be interesting to see what they do in the movie now that all the girls are in relationships that, in the series finale, have led us to believe will be long-lasting and GOOD relationships. OK that's all of my thoughts. Good bye to another favorite tv show. There are too many goodbyes this season: SATC, Friends, Frasier, Angel (any news about Angel maybe being picked up on UPN ??). And I still miss Buffy.

Big is Back!

Loved last night's SATC episode. I can finally see the light at the end of the long, boring Aleksander Petrovsky tunnel. Not loving that relationship. Then Big shows up, in his big black shiny car .... and he couldn't get a word in edgewise because Carrie was so afraid of what he might say -- what really, deep inside, she knew he was there to say. What she's been waiting for him to realize for 6 years. But we know it's going to happen. She's going to end up with Big ... Finally! A Happy Ending!! All the girls giving him the approval? And him saying that basically any guy is going to come in fourth next to them -- sigh. He gets it - they get it - and Carrie's going to get it next week!! Sigh. I HEART BIG.

Janet Jackson Peek-A-BOOB

// February 2nd, 2004 // 3 Comments » // tagged:

So last night, we're watching the game on and off because it's not very exciting this year -- and we tune in just as the Janet/Justin duet is coming to an end. And all of the sudden we see a boob. Thankfully we were at home, and therefore tivo-ed back a few seconds and watched it in slow-motion to make sure we saw what we thought we saw -- and sure enough. Janet's boob made a cameo in the half-time show. Whether it was on purpose or not, we aren't sure -- but she did look down and kinda grab her top right after it happened and then the CBS network execs, recovering from their heart attacks, quickly faded to black. Timberlake had this to say, "I am sorry that anyone was offended by the wardrobe malfunction during the halftime performance of the Super Bowl ...."! Wardrobe Malfunction. Now that's an understatement. Hehe!! I guess we really will have six more weeks of winter :)

American Idol

// January 29th, 2004 // 2 Comments » // tagged:

We've been tivoing all the American Idol audition shows ..... and it still amazes me how deluded some people are. They go in, sing off key, gross you out with their "dance" moves and then they go off on Simon, Randy & Paula when they tell them they aren't good singers. What I want to know is WHO told them they WERE good singers? :crazy: First of all ... it's very staged that these people get through to Simon, Randy & Paula in the first place. They obviously had to sing for the "prelim" judges and they obviously were horrible singers. But they let through a select few really crappy singers so that the auditions won't be a total bore for us at home. Because really .... who watches this show to hear the good singers? :tongue: For me, I stop watching the show after the auditions are over. When all the good singers are left .... it's just basically a few weeks of karaoke and a popularity contest with all the teeny boppers. The auditions are the best part of the show. However, NO ONE has come close to the hilarity of "Like a Virgin" Keith from last year. :wide-eyed: So funny and so sad at the same time! There were a few interesting ones, especially in San Francisco and Houston seemed to be inundated with horrible singers .... but none have been so deluded, nor so "stricken" when told how bad they were.

Alias Thoughts

// January 19th, 2004 // 2 Comments » // tagged:

So ... last night's Alias episode. Interesting, and yet I'm not sure I know what to think about everything. A few thoughts: :pi: Sark doesn't know that Lauren is the covenant "double-agent" within the CIA. Interesting. And he's showing extreme dissatisfaction with how the covenant is doing business ... do I sense a possible "defection" for Sark in the future? I doubt he'd ever turn completely good ... but I could totally see him working in tandem with Sydney et al to bring down the covenant. I'm also thinking that the whole meeting, eventual relationship and marriage between Vaughn and Lauren was obviously a set up from the very beginning. The covenant was responsible for Sydney's abduction, so why wouldn't they put in place a "double-agent" (Lauren) to keep an eye on Vaughn and get him to stop looking for Sydney and move on. (And did we all recognize Mr. Zisman? The actor formally known as The Mummy? I liked that movie!) Vaughn being snippy to Sydney on the plane and Sydney falling for it and saying one of them is going to have to go ... that was kinda silly to me. Sydney knows that Vaughn still has feelings for her. :duh: When Lauren originally turned Sydney in for assasinating Lazarey (thanks for Sark's info .. again proving he doesn't know she is the covenant mole inside the CIA) ... Vaughn helped Sydney escape and when they were at the airport they almost smooched. She knows he still has feelings for her. Silly scene. And then there is Katya, Irina's sister, portrayed interestingly by Isabella Rossellini. What is UP with that kiss at the end? And as much as I like Katya ... I still want Irina back. She has amazing chemistry with both Jack and Sydney ... and Vaughn! I know thats not going to happen, but a fangirl can dream can't she? Sloane and Jack's scene was bizarre. :uhh: Who knows what is up there. We know Sloane is a bad guy ... but he does seem to care for Sydney and Jack. He's had opportunity to kill them both and yet he doesn't .... are we still thinking he could be Sydney's dad? I don't know ... I don't even care that Lauren is a bad guy. Do we even care about her character at all? Is it believable that she could be a double agent? Not really. Anyone at the CIA with half a brain watching would have seen her expressions of dispair when she learned Vaughn was still alive ... and who makes top-secret-double-agent phone calls to the covenant from within the CIA? Like Marshall couldn't figure that out in a New York Minute. Ah well. Maybe it's just bad acting? Anyway - and she's just a little gnat in the big scheme of things. Eventually she'll get blown away (hopefully by our super spys Vaughn & Sydney) -- and then we'll move on to a better storyline. Something with Sark. I like him. He's cute AND bad. :bigthumb:

So Let’s Talk TV ….

// November 10th, 2003 // No Comments » // tagged:

:sevenonsunday: 1. What TV show is currently your favorite? Alias! (I second Addie's vote that Lauren must die!!) 2. Have you started watching any of the new shows this season? The Brotherhood of Poland, NH; 3. Any shows which you're surprised are still on the air? Geez yeah. Boston Public, The Practice, and most of the reality shows. I thought they would be a "fad" -- here one or two seasons and then gone thankfully. But they're sticking around and they're as lame as ever. 4. Any shows which you're surprised to have been cancelled? John Doe, The Agency 5. Are there any new shows that you're watching simply because of one actor/actress? I started watching The Brotherhood of Poland, NH because of Randy Quaid ... 6. Have you tuned into anything this season that you've never watched before but that has been around for a bit? CSI: Miami ... I'd only watched CSI. I don't know if I really like the Miami version though. The jury is still out. I started watching The Dead Zone this summer, and really like it. 7. Of all shows that you watch, are there any that have ended recently, or will end soon that you can't imagine your TV line up without? Buffy, of course (although I'm hoping for a cameo or two on Angel); Friends (Ross and Rachel better end up together), Sex & The City (Will Big and Carrie ride off into the sunset together???).

Great Deal

// October 3rd, 2003 // 4 Comments » // tagged:

We bought our second tivo last night. For $49. :wow: Yes, that's right. It's a Hughes DirecTivo -- 35 hours (the hours don't matter though -- because its super easy to hack and put in a huge hard drive and make a Mega-Tivo). So ... if you are a DirecTV customer -- and have wanted tivo -- Circuit City is running this deal through tomorrow, October 4. In the store, you pay $99 and then there's a $50 rebate you can print off here. It's a great deal -- especially since most deals like this are for new customers only! We are existing customers and you still get the deal. We were wanting an additional tivo, and it basically just dropped in our lap. Steve found the deal online and we dropped into the store last night on the way home to see if it was for real :shocked4: -- and walked out 10 minutes later with a brand new tivo and big happy smiles on our faces. We're now a two-tivo family. :hug: Time to pull out the cigars and celebrate our newest addition!

Alias Premiere

ALIAS. Loved the premiere .... but was kinda shocked when she laid into Vaughn! Wow -- what a speech! Not that he didn't deserve most of it .... but still ... wow. It kinda seems like a "point of no return" thing -- but I LOVE Sydney and Vaughn together .... so we'll have to wait and see what happens. Loved it when she saw Jack for the first time in prision. Loved her first confrontation with Sloane for the season. LOVED Marshall introducing himself like she wouldn't remember him. Welcome season three!!!

No Cupid Wedding … hehe

// September 17th, 2003 // No Comments » // tagged:

Yesss! :dance: Hank won! And :heartbeat: they didn't get married on live television -- which in my opinion was a classy thing for both of them to do. It was obvious they had discussed this before last nights show because Lisa seemed fine with Hanks announcement that they would have a REAL wedding -- and they gave up the million dollars. How cool is that! Woohoo Robert remains a loser .... ;) Anybody need anything from Mary Kay? Visit my Ebay listings .... Lacy's 'Store'. A couple of years ago I became a Mary Kay consultant in order to get my makeup all makeup for my mom, grandmother, sister in law and her sisters and mom really cheap. I've never had any parties or sold to anyone outside of my family -- because I'm not in it to make money. It works great for us. Anyway -- I got all this consultant stuff that I have never used and definitely don't need. I figure I might as well make some money off of it since it's just sitting in my closet otherwise! Go! Bid! Awww … Letterman’s going to be a daddy!

// September 15th, 2003 // 3 Comments » // tagged: >

Here's one of the most recent pictures I have of my pretty little niece, Sarah! (Click to see the big picture!) Speaking of babies .... I am a die-hard Letterman fan and therefore was excited to hear his announcement that he's going to be a first-time father. It's unbelievable that they've kept it a secret so long -- because she's like 6 months along! Of course, Letterman is notorious about guarding his privacy. He's one of those celebrities you just don't see out and about .... he does his show and, in my opinion, tries to lead a normal life otherwise. (Well as normal as a celebrity ever can .... ). Anyway -- it will be interesting to see how fatherhood changes him. It will definitely give him new material to joke about ;)
