Oh Yeah Luke!!!

// March 1st, 2005 // 1 Comment » // tagged:

When the door knocked … we knew it was Luke. Yeah!! :heartbeat: Much jumping up and down on the couch ensued!

Great episode.
* Enjoyed Rory’s appropriate treatment of Emily at Friday Night Dinner. Emily’s behavior was also totally believable – for her to pretend that nothing happened. That’s so Emily.
* Hated that Richard supported Emily when she was saying she was “only doing what was best for Loralei”. I thought Richard was going to stand up and say what needed to be said – BUTT OUT. But instead he practically affirmed what Emily did. Not loving that.
* Still liking Rory and Logan. He IS cute. And he SEEMS to be … ok? Are we being set up for her getting pregnant like Loralei? Or for him to be a player? Rory seems really happy though – especially when she was telling Loralei about him. The jury’s still out on that one …
* LOVED Lane going up to her mom on the street and yelling “You’re in My Head!!!” with no explanation to her mom. hehe!
* Can’t believe Emily pulled the contract thing out on Rory at dinner – like that’s going to really help the situation. I was liking Emily there for a little while … but she has really become a witch this season. (or is just showing her true colors)
* Once again … loved Luke going to Loralei’s house and just going straight to her as soon as she opened the door. Like – as soon as Snotty EmilyTM left the diner, he went straight over to Loralei’s house. :heartbeat:

Have you GOT GILMORE?

Do you have a pink or blue ribbon?

LOST … I still don’t like Sawyer. And I don’t know if I’m supposed to or not? Yes, there was great tragedy in his life. But tragedy doesn’t give you free reign to be a total jerk the rest of your life?

Oh and back a few episodes. When it was about Walt and Michael. Did anyone notice his comic book? It had polar bears in it. We know Walt is “special” somehow. In his flashback – when he was studying the birds, and mom/stepdad weren’t paying attention to him, he got angry – and a bird flew into the window. Did he get angry and “summon” a polar bear? Did he cause this whole thing – them getting stuck on an island. Is he there because Claire had to be there? Is Claire on the island because SHE has to raise the child (and the psychic knew the plane would crash – and therefore knew she would have to raise the baby) — or is Claire on the island because “whatever” is on that island wanted the baby. Did “it” cause the plane crash.

Ahhh … so many questions. That’s why this show is soooo good. J.J. Abrams was on the radio this morning talking about LOST. He said one of the reasons he thinks its so popular is because you never know from one week to the next what type of story it will be. Are you going to be scared witless? Are you going to be shocked? Are you going to be heartbroken? Are you going to be laughing? He did say that Kate’s little plane story will be wrapped up this year. Don’t know if that means this season, or 2005.

GILMORE GIRLS

Wow. Another great episode. Did the writers get the Season 1-2 DVD’s or something? Did they watch them and remember what Gilmore Girls is all about? We’re getting classic GG moments over the past several weeks.

Loralei’s reaction to the breakup – oh yeah. Running over to get the answering machine tape. And of course we knew Luke would already be back at her house.

Wasn’t expecting her reaction at the end though. I mean … she totally ran over whatever Luke might have been going to say. And next week’s episode looks to stink. Loralei and Luke getting snippy with each other? What’s up with that? Not sure that’s too realistic? Who knows … will wait til I see it.

Still loving Logan. Although I kinda wished he had offered to take her to Stars Hollow. But the Limo and driver were funny – especially when Luke was honking at it!

AND THE RIBBONS!!!! hahahaha!!!!

Me and You. We’re Done.

Oh yeah … good Gilmore Girls episode.

So, so tired of Chris.

Love, adore Luke. He was treated like crap all night – and still tried to make the night work. He IS too good for Loralei … and hopefully she’ll realize it and start treating him better.

Loved Luke asking Chris where he was during all those times in Rory’s life. Yeah, loser … where were you. That DOES matter. Just because you’ve showed up recently doesn’t make you a father. Ugh. I used to semi like Chris. But nope. He needs to move on.

Rory and Logan. I like Logan … is that wrong? I guess it’s the good/bad boy thing. He’s not a bad boy like loser Jess … but he’s not a good boy like Dean. He’s a good mix. And he totally gets Rory. “You’re special” … hmmm … we’ll see.

And of course … the last line… “Me and You. We’re Done.” Oh yeah. This should be fun.

Did everyone watch Nate Berkus on Oprah talking about his experience in the tsunami? Wow. Powerful episode.

Best line of the night:

Marshall: “er … Sloane is here”
Sydney: “we know”

How many people actually thought Sydney was getting transferred to the mailroom? I mean … seriously? She’s their best agent. We knew it was a setup for something … I was just waiting for a Credit Dauphine type location to show up next. In the subway is cool though …

Great scene when Syd walks around the corner and the camera pans from Dixon … to Jack … to Vaughn. And then of course … we see Sloane. This brings us back to what made this show great in the beginning. A secret organization … (yeah yeah the CIA is secretive … but it’s not black-ops-meets-in-the-subway secret).

I think the writers did a switcharoo on what the big secret was on the top-secret papers. Last season … it totally seemed like it had something to do with Sydney’s childhood. Like Jack signed off on some experimental project to do with her. But now … did they rewrite it to just get rid of Irina for forever since Lena Olin wouldn’t come back? Who knows. It’s just hard to believe that Irina went from imming with Jack in his car and doing things to HELP Sydney to suddenly putting a contract out on her life. Oh well … maybe we’ll learn more later.

I was almost bouncing up and down last night watching this. It’s my favorite show … and it’s back. And there will be a new episode EVERY SINGLE WEEK until the end of the season. Love that!!!

Other great things: No Lauren … Marshall was brought in … Marshall’s “Robot Dixon” line … the new intro with ALL the outfits over the past few seasons. Go Jennifer Garner!

Still pondering: where is Weiss going to fit in? I don’t love Nadia … so not too thrilled with her joining the team;

Did everyone catch the ALIAS promos on TV last night? We caught them during Desperate Housewives (my newest TV addiction) … I started jumping up and down on the couch. Watched it … then hit the rewind on the tivo to watch it again.

Yessssss!! Less than two months to go!!!

Rory, Rory, Rory

Enjoyed last night’s Gilmore Girls Episode. But then – I enjoy almost every episode of GG, so what’s new? Am I going to regret liking Logan? I knew when Rory was asking Dean about her article and he didn’t have any comments that later we would see her and Logan would comment on the article. The writers not so subtly saying that Dean isn’t on Rory’s intellectual level (not that he ever was; but their relationship used to be based on shared interests … but now they don’t really even have that anymore).

FINALLY a somewhat heated Loralei/Luke smooch. I realize it’s a family show … but we all needed that smooch.

Is Logan going to turn into a mistake? I hope not …

Amish in the City

I’ve been hearing a lot about the UPN reality show Amish in the City – so I set the tivo to record the next few episodes.

Amish in the City puts five Amish and six city kids under one roof in Los Angeles. The Amish are on “rumspringa” – the time period when they’re allowed to go out into the world and decide if they want to live there, or join the Amish church and live there for the rest of their lives.

Unless we’re on a break …

It’s the end of an era. Friends has finally gone off the air — and while it might be true that they stayed at the party a season or two too long — I still love my Friends. Last nights episode isn’t the most memorable of Friends … but it did give the long-time Friends fan a satisfactory ending.

Ross and Rachel end up together — not that I had any doubt, but I still loved the moment when she says “I got off the plane” – and then Ross’ not funny joke about always being together “unless they’re on a break”. (I heard on the Today show someone saying she wished Ross had gone to Paris to be with Rachel – rather than Rachel giving up the dream job of a lifetime to stay in NY with him. I guess maybe that is what was kinda bugging me about that storyline. It would have been really cool for him to go there for her!)

Monica and Chandler ending up with twins … how sweet is that.

Phoebe driving the taxi – hilarious; Pheobe and Mike planning the Von Tramp Family singers style family — especially cool after seeing the montage earlier with her holding the tripletts.

Joey … well he’s not my favorite character … and knowing he’s going on to a new show – well its somehow different seeing him in the finale. It’s not very final. Although I don’t think Joey will do well — he was a great comedic foil to the other 5 characters. Anyone he is with on the new show is bound to be unfavorably compared to the Friends. It’s a hard act to follow.

Tivo and Pop Culture References

// March 19th, 2004 // 5 Comments » // tagged: >

I was talking with a fellow Tivo-owner this morning about the newest breed of people that we are a part of. We’re totally up on all the latest news and tv shows. We never miss an episode of our favorite shows … thanks to Season Passes. We tivo stuff we think we might like … since it only takes a few minutes to quickly scan a program, we tivo lots of shows that we wouldn’t ordinarily watch. And most Tivo owners are also fairly technologically inclined, and therefore we’re up on the latest innovations in computers and electronics.

But ask us about that hilarious commercial you saw last night during Friends? Or how about that new movie that’s coming out that you saw a preview of last week while watching C.S.I.?

Nope – we don’t have a clue. We haven’t watched a commercial in almost two years … well – we watched a few at the Superbowl, but thats only because those are always good commercials. But other than those, we have no clue what you are talking about. Pop-culture references made to commercials are lost on us. We don’t see movie previews unless we purposefully tivo the Coming Attractions show on E!

And we aren’t complaining … because not knowing the latest commercial funny or overhyped movie preview is a small price to pay for watching Friends in 18 minutes … ER in 40 minutes … never having to run home after an unexpected late night at work and hope you get there in time to record the season finale of Alias! I guess I’m just mentioning it here … because I just really thought about it this morning while talking to a coworker. We talk all the time about different shows we’ve watched — give each other suggestions for shows we might want to try. But neither of us “gets it” when someone is laughing and telling us about the latest commercial … and this phenomenom is going to only increase. With cable companies developing their own digital recording services, and tivo’s being so cheap to acquire for satellite users …. more and more people are going to become like us. We control the tv … and we like it that way :)

Speaking of new shows … we’re trying out Wonderfalls on Fox. It’s quirky, some bits are very Ally McBeal-esque …. there’s a new episode on tonight too. We’ll tivo it, watch it in 40 minutes, and then decide whether it’s earned a season pass or not …..
