Florida here we come!

// April 29th, 2004 // No Comments » // tagged:

Tomorrow morning Steve and I will be on a plane on our way to Florida for four days of fun in the sun! We both needed to get away from work (at our jobs and at the house) - and just relax. I'm hoping for at least one day where we do nothing but sit on the beach and read. That would be a perfect day (even more perfect would be the miracle of me getting a tan at the same time.) As it is, I'll have on my 45 SPF sunscreen, a widebrimmed hat, and hope for the best! I think Addie's convinced me to try the Mystic Tan - but I didn't have time to go before our trip. Maybe one day next week I'll try it out, and hope I don't come out looking like Ross on Friends. We got really great deals on our travel arrangements for this trip -- we're both flying roundtrip for $180. That's $90 a person roundtrip airfare, direct flight. Not a bad deal! And we're staying in a Hilton Garden Inn (I love those hotels... we always try to stay in those when we're on a trip because the room is guaranteed to be nice, internet access, pools, jacuzzis, breakfast included -- oh and Steve gets great rates from all the traveling he has done for work) -- so we got this great hotel for $59 a night. Not bad. I love a cheap, but great, holiday (thats what they call vacations in England!) (I've redesigned my Silver Strawberry website .... it looks much cleaner now. I was so tired of the black and red. There's much work still to be done -- I'm still working on individual pages for each client -- but I'm almost halfway there!)

Merry Christmas

:candycane: Merry Christmas to all my fellow bloggers! :grouphug: We've had a wonderful day with family and friends. It was especially fun to see our 11-month old niece open her first-ever Christmas presents (although she enjoyed playing with the ribbons, bows and wrapping paper more than the presents themselves!!). We all got together and bought my grandmother a computer this year for Christmas. :pc: We wrapped up the mouse and that was what she opened -- and she was so surprised! She was like "is this what I think it is??" So we spent the afternoon getting everything unpacked and set up and then giving her a few short lessons on how everything works. I'm sure it will take her a little while to get the hang of everything -- but how cool will it be when I start getting emails from my 84-year old grandmother! :biggrin: Maybe she'll get her own blog eventually! www.grandmasonline.com ! hehe! Well I better get off the computer and back to helping my dad set up one of his presents! It's been the day of everyone getting presents that require technical support! :wide-eyed: Again, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! :wave:

Christmas Mad Lib

(Do your own Christmas Mad Lib!!) Dear Santa, I have been a good girl. It really wasn't my fault what happened at Addie's Christmas party. It was Jeff who spiked the punch with too much diet coke. I can't help it if I drank 14 glasses. It was so good---smelled and tasted just like rotten eggs. I thought it was funny when I put Hillary's sweater on my head and danced the Macarena on the Desk Chair while singing `It's My Life'. I didn't mean to break Addie's remote control and don't know why Gina would sue me for grand theft. I don't remember calling Rob's fiance a flimsy donkey---even though she looked like one with red eye shadow and green lipstick! And when I threw up on Christie's husband's foot, it was only because I ate too much of that chips. After all that fun, I admit I was a little tired. So I fell asleep on my way home and drove my ford escape through my neighbor's bathroom. I don't think that was any reason for my neighbor to call me a bloody cow and have me arrested for embezzlement! So, Santa...here I sit in my jail cell on Christmas Eve, all slimy and beautiful. And I'm really not to blame for any of this big stuff. Please bring me what I want the most---bail money! Sincerely and loudly yours, Lacy (Really a nice girl!) P.S. It's only 32 bucks!

Christmas Shopping

// December 18th, 2003 // 1 Comment » // tagged:

I'm stressed. I commented about this over on Jeff's site and then realized I hadn't blogged in a while and figured it was a blog-worthy topic. As you've read, I've been sick for over a week now. The result of which is much lost shopping time! Several weeks ago, we spent our Saturday at the mall doing reconnaissance - you know, checking out the stores and what they have. Is there anything really cool available? Does something jump out at me as a gift for someone? And then I was planning on doing some serious actual buying this past weekend. But I was sick, so it didn't happen. Therefore, I'm a week behind and now I'm going to be stuck at the shops this weekend with all the other people who've waited til the last minute to do their shopping. Thankfully, I've done 80% of my shopping online. That's the way to go. No crowds, no screaming kids. Just me and my computer. I ordered several gifts back in October -- and those are beautifully wrapped and sitting under our Christmas Tree. But I am (as I am every other year) always left with the two hardest people to buy for: my dad and my grampy. They are typical men in that when they see something they want, they pretty much just buy it. So when it comes to birthdays and christmas -- it's a hard task to find something for them! So these are the two people I'm currently racking my brain trying to think of a gift for. When Mark (my brother) and I were in high school, my parents had us start making Christmas and Birthday lists. This worked out pretty well for us -- because atleast that way we usually got things we were interested in. We have been trying to get my parents and grandparents to do this ever since. Why do THEY get to have it easy and have a list for us-- when we have to flounder around and try and figure out what to get them? It is STRESSFUL. I want to give my family something they will like and enjoy -- not just something impersonal and thoughtless. And sometimes the ideas just aren't coming -- and a list would be ever so helpful. (My dream world would be when every member of my family has an Amazon Wishlist set up. I just get online and wala my shopping is done. It's all being shipped with Super Saver Free Shipping and everyone will have something they truly want.)

It’s Christmastime at Silverberry

// December 1st, 2003 // 2 Comments » // tagged: >

A new color scheme and a few new header graphics mark the beginning of the season here at the good ol' blog. For many of us, Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) heralded the beginning of the 2003 Christmas Season. We were are my parents over Thanksgiving, and therefore went to all the sales in my hometown instead of Nashville. I think we probably fared better going shopping in a smaller town -- not as many people as there would have been here in Nashville. In honor of that great day, I composed a semi-original poem :sarcastic: Twas the Night Before Black Friday, when all through the house Not a creature was sleeping, not even my ipaq; The turkey was eaten, the pumpkin pie was all gone; My husband and I were nestled snug in our beds, With sale papers from stores lay spread on our laps. And me in my glasses and Steve with his highlighter, We'd just settled in for a long planning session, When out in the hallway there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter! Away to the door I flew like a flash, and there was my mother with a Sale Paper Stash! What to my wondering eyes should appear, but a sale paper from Walmart with a christmas tree deal! I knew in a moment it would be a great day, my husband quickly exclaimed, 'Now Best Buy! Now Staples! Now Wal-Mart and Target! Now Sears! Now Circuit City! Now KMart and OfficeMax! To the front of the line, with our rebates in hand We'll dash away, dash away, with great deals in our grasp! A bundle of sales were there for the taking, The CF card how it twinkled! The SDRAM was so merry! The tree was so sparkly and the CDRs were so shiny! With a wink of my eye and a twist of my head, I spoke many words and went straight to my work, and planned out our shopping like a good little girl. We awoke the next morning, so happy to whistle, and away we flew like the down of a thistle. To Walmart, to Staples, to Officemax and More! Shopping and Deals and More in our Sight! Happy Black Friday to all, and to all a good night !!
