Zune Zune ....

Microsoft's new mobile music player might just have a chance at giving Apple *some* competition. It looks cool ... they're doing a good job with marketing ... the price is right ($249) ... and you know they are going to start bundling it with PC sales - at the very least zune software will be included with windows on new pc's. That's where Microsoft makes its money anyway ... bundling. It might be a tall order to come close to ipod sales ... but the zune might have what it takes to atleast get Microsoft in the game.

Built in FM tuner
Share songs with zunes nearby (3 plays over a 3 day period)
Comparable size.... and with a cool brown version!
Large 3" screen ... vertical & horizontal orientations
Wireless (this is huge ... having it in the unit opens up all sorts of possibilities )

I doubt Apple is concerned about the zune at this point ... the ipod has too much iconic appeal. However - the social aspects of the zune are very cool. You can be sure the next gen of ipods will be sporting something similar ... following on the heals of microsoft for once ;)

[interesting writeup about the zune and microsofts knack for just not *getting it*]

Crazy For You

Last night was opening night for this year's musical, Crazy for You. We've got a great cast and crew - I'm the stage manager this year. (Last year we did Meet Me in St. Louis ... I was the propmistress. Great title.) There are some really great numbers this year -- Slap That Bass has great choreography, I've Got Rhythm is of course a fun number, and then you have the heroine singing the romantic Someone to Watch Over Me. Opening Night always seems to erase all the stress and frustration brought on by all the rehearsals and prep-work. We were all about to tear our hair out after tech-rehearsal on Monday night (that's when we do the run-through with microphones, lighting, sound effects, etc. ) - I got home a little after midnight and the sound guys didn't leave til around 1:30 AM. It was a LONG night! So last night, when the show went so well -- the audience enjoyed the show -- and we didn't have any major problems -- it was a great feeling! It was all worth it!

I had 'No Doubt' for Lunch!

Today was a pretty good day -- especially for a Monday. What made it good was a SURPRISE concert by NO DOUBT less than four blocks from my office! My phone rang at 10:00 and it was Steve saying how they had announced on the radio that NO DOUBT was going to be giving a free concert at 1st and Broadway at noon -- I was kinda skeptical -- but I checked their official website and they had a note about it. So during our lunch break - we walked down, got about 10 to 15 feet away from the stage -- and in about 10 minutes - sure enough, here comes Gwennie! The concert totally rocked, especially since we were so incredibly close to the stage. They played for a little over an hour! (I love her voice!! Gwen and Shirley Manson - of Garbage - are two of my fav female singers!) How awesome to start my Monday off with a nice little surprise like that! Evidently No Doubt were part of a advertising thing sponsored by NISSAN. Dave Matthews Band, Train, etc were playing in other cities (or at least thats what I heard ... lol).

Anyway - thats my excellent Monday story. Woooohooooooo !!

OMG! Just read the wildfeed for the Buffy episodes coming up -- OMG! AWESOME. I don't want to spoil those of you who like to go spoilerless ... but it's gonna be AWESOME. If you want to read the episode synopsis for "Two to Go" click here -- for "Grave" click here.

It's going to be a great TV night! Woohoo!

In other news, I've gotten a little involved with a campaign to stop the hideous storyline of Beth/Luis and Brian/Di(Sheridan) making love -- basically just making the website for the group. It's so sad that the writers of that soap have completely betrayed the viewers -- but then what can you expect from a writer like JER and a network like NBC?! LOL To see the website in progress, click here!

This weekend was another busy one. My husband and I had tickets to see GREEN DAY and BLINK 182 and JIMMY EAT WORLD (the Pop Disaster Tour) in Atlanta -- so we headed down to visit with my parents on the way to Atlanta.

Here's a piece of advice for those of you out there who might ever go to Atlanta to see a concert -- NEVER EVER go to a concert at the Hi-Fi BuyAmphitheatre. They totally SUCK. We got there two hours before the concert started and we were STILL standing in line when JIMMY EAT WORLD finished their set. UNBELIEVEABLE. There were atleast 2000 people in line behind us as well. This place has the WORST organization I have ever seen! We finally managed to get in the gates a few minutes before GREEN DAY was supposed to get on stage. My husband has seen GREEN DAY four times live, and he said he's never been to a concert so disorganized. The sound was completely horrible as well -- yuck!!!

That said ... it was still cool to see GREEN DAY live. I'd never been to one of their concerts, so it was great to hear them (even badly) live!

We returned from Europe on Wednesday evening and we haven't stopped since! My husband had 300 emails in his inbox at work and I had around 200 -- so we have been trying to get caught up with everything. We also had tickets for a music festival this weekend -- Friday through Sunday. Of course you've got the local small bands and then they actually had some decent groups ... last night was awesome. We saw GARBAGE and NO DOUBT. We had an amazing view and both shows were just awesome. I'd never seen either group live - so I was totally psyched. My expectations were far surpassed -- it was definitely worth sitting through several CRAP bands in order to see those two bands. NO DOUBT did a great encore as well and played my husband's fav song "Spiderweb".

I get my pictures back from our trip tomorrow -- I ordered prints & online versions -- so I won't have to spend hours scanning in photos. I'm going to work up a little website with pics & commentary. We'll see how much time I can spend on it this week.

We're off to COMPUSA to get some memory for my sister-in-law's computer. She's computer hardware illiterate, so we try to keep them up to date. Fun. Tonight at the festival we'll see INCUBUS and HOOBASTANK.

The Baha Men were on yesterday ... talk about ONE HIT wonders. How sad.
