I have found a new site obsession ... Drivl.com.

I can't stop laughing ... it's witty and intelligent ... what's not to like!

From The Seven Phases of Owning an Ipod:

PHASE 6: A smaller, fancier ipod is created and yours is now outdated and crappy. Yours is no longer awesome, it is horribly awful. Just awful.

Is that not SOOOOO true? I have a color ipod that I got about 2 years ago ... but not the *new* (last year's new anyway) slimline movie-playing version. Went on a youth trip last summer ... and all the kids have the new swanky one. I felt like the ipod's redheaded stepsister. And I AM redheaded. So I really felt it. My ipod works GREAT for what I use it for ... music. I have no desire to watch a movie on a 2inch screen. AND YET ... I felt like my ipod was inferior.

The other phases are also illustrated ... and hilarious.

Free iPod for Lacy

Free IPOD!!!Dear Friends, the Few Faithful Readers, My Fellow Compatriots ....

Help Lacy get a free ipod!

Basically, click on THIS LINK. Be sure to click on my link so that I'll get the referral credit. Then go through the signup process.

The offer I choose to complete was the blockbuster one, because it doesn't actually require you to spend any money. It's a free two-week trial. You signup, and a tthe end of the two weeks, cancel your subscription (or keep it if you like it!)

When I completed an offer, I helped someone else get one step closer to getting THEIR free ipod. You just have to get five friends to complete an offer to get a free ipod. FIVE. And when the offers are no-money offers like the blockbuster one ... that's too easy!

While you're signing up, that's when you start your "free ipod" process. You'll invite some of your friends to help you get an ipod. Eventually - the whole world will have ipods. We will all be walking around with white cords hanging from our ears and smiles on our faces. :cloud9:

This "make your own avatar" is too much fun. Melissa gives great instructions (translations) on her site.

Chip Butties

| | Comments (4) | TrackBacks (0)

Anyone else out there know what a chip buttie is? If not ... let me tell you about it. It's a weekly meal at our house. I remember the first time my husband made them for me. We were dating and I was over at his place and he asked if I wanted a chip buttie. I was like -- suuuuure! I'll try it. (For those of you who don't know ... my husband is English. Apparently chip butties are a common thing there). First ... you make french fries. And for Steve, they have to be made from scratch french fries. So we peel our potatoes, cut them with our Pampered Chef Crinkle Cutter and then pop them into our deep fryer. Takes about 8 minutes and the nice hot french fries are ready. Next step .... take your bread of choice (regular bread, sub sandwich bread, etc) and slather with butter or if you're Steve, London Pub Sauce (we literally have atleast 8 bottles of this in the cupboard at all times. Steve puts it on everything.). Then you put the french fries inside the bread. That's a chip buttie.

I know it doesn't sound all that appetizing ... but surprisingly enough ... it does taste pretty good. Steve laughs at me beacuse my chip butties are always put together so precisely with all my french fries lined up in a neat row on the bread -- whereas he just shoves them in.

The "butties" don't stop here. Steve also likes Bacon Butties (yes, you've got it -- bacon inside of bread slathered with London Pub Sauce). Basically he likes Anything Butties. If we're having fish, beans and cauliflower .... it all ends up in a sandwich. It's kind of bizarre.

I'm one of those people who eats everything one at a time. I eat all my fish. Then I eat the beans. Then I eat the cauliflower. The only foods I mix up on a regular basis are corn and beans. I got that habit from my grandfather -- they taste much better mixed together :)

Hit & Run

| | Comments (2)

I'm going to steal Promo's use of the term hit and run for his blogs with a bunch of links.

First up .... I've created my own little "Link Depository" in MT because I was tired of trying to remember links, or having a huge unorganized favorites list, etc. So now they're all dumped in MT, organized, and searchable.

:shocked4: According to apple (and the rest of us), Hell has frozen over. A mac application now working in windows?? woah

Time Warp -- this is such a funny anecdote and so true for all Tivo users.

A very cool store for my fellow geeks out there --- we all need one of these shirts! And I need this tattooed on my forehead.

And this is where I'm headed this weekend .... Woohoo! We fly up tomorrow, the wedding is Saturday, and then we're on our way to the coast :) So I'll be back on Tuesday to blog about our adventures! Later

Linky Galore

How Stuff Works -- neat site that tells you how hundreds of stuff works, from instant messaging to dry-cleaning to how a yo-yo works!

Newseum -- see the front page of newspapers all around the world!

Need a holiday? -- use this page to find out if today is a holiday in any part of the world! (Now if only our BOSSES would agree to observe these holidays!)

Planet Source Code -- seven million lines of free code. Need I say more? Even if you don't want any ... it's cool to look and see what's out there !

Epicurious -- just looking at the homepage on this site made me hungry!

Abebooks -- if you've bought a book from the Amazon Marketplace, chances are you've probably gotten it from these guys. It seems like everytime I buy a book from the marketplace, the seller is this one. Hey, as long as I get the book cheap, I don't care who it comes from!

Auction Stealer -- for ebay fanatics! Are you tired of having to hang around to the very last second on an ebay bid? Lost something cool in the last 3 seconds of bidding? Then this tool is for you. Auction Stealer can submit bids for you in the very last SECONDS of an ebay auction!

DeepDiscountDVD -- I don't know if this site has good bargains ALL the way around, but it was the cheapest place I could find Sharpe movies for my husband. $10 and free shipping, even if you only buy one. Not bad!

Trillian -- I think I've plugged this one before, but it deserves another one! This is awesome if you run multiple instant messaging programs. It combines all of them into one program. Loads of cool skins are available and I have it installed on all of my pcs at work and home! (I'm running the free version .74 and love it love it love it!)

Webmonkey -- just another source for webstuff.

Fontalicious -- If nothing else these guys should get credit for having a groovylicoius design. Each font has it's own graphical design ... wicked.

Plugin Directory -- are you a MT user? You'll go ga-ga at this site ... plugins, scripts and more!

Brad Choate -- and of course, this guy is the creator of MTMacro, which is the coolest macro I've installed so far. It runs my smilies in my blog & comments and also automatically links my most frequently used words (like Addie, Jeff, Amazon, Ebay, etc)! So if I ever type certain words, MT autolinks it to the url I've already specified. Very handy and saves mucho time.

Fraggle Rock Rocks

| | Comments (1)

A few site updates today --

Added a whole new section in my "Fav Links" page with links to all the tv shows I loved growing up (From 'Dukes of Hazzard', 'The A-Team', and 'Punky Brewster', to 'Inspector Gadget' and 'Fraggle Rock'. There are about 25 shows added (and that's just the ones I can remember ... I'll add more as I remember the freaky shows I watched as a kiddie!) Check it out for a trip down "memory lane" (or for you younger webbies, a trip down 'never seen these shows live before ... only seen the reruns' lane -- is that a lane?! Whatever. You get my drift.)!

Added two new affiliates, Fabienne and Michelle.

Joined three fanlistings -- one for Christmas (how cool is that! I'm a Christmas freak for sure!), one for ER (finally found the site), one for the comic strip "Calvin and Hobbes" (which I LOVE! I own every single one of the compilation books. They're hilarious!)

Bored Now.

I haven't posted twice in one day in quite a while. Nothing much is on TV, so thought I'd come on and blog a little. I just finished watching 'American Idol' on Fox. I LOVE that British guy, Simon-- he's the only one being truly honest with the participants. Paula Abdul is completely useless as a judge. She doesn't want to say anything critical about any of them. Useless. At least Simon is HONEST - even if it is BRUTAL. In my opinion ... the first girl, Tamyra Gray, was the best. ALL of the guys (except maybe the last guy, Christopher Aaron) were horrible - couldn't sing worth a flip. I think out of this group -- the three chosen will be Tamyra, Christopher and either Ryan or Natalie. (I got all the names from the AI website -- so I don't have to say that girl with the curly hair, the guy with the paper clips around his neck, etc. LOL)

Watched a rerun of the BTVS eppy after Buffy is brought back - when Giles comes back to Sunnydale. I love Giles - and loved the look on Buffy's face when she saw him come in the Magic Shop. Giles is really the only father figure she's ever had. Poor Buffy -- I was really feeling bad for her this episode. I was REALLY loving it at the end when she rushed off to see Angel though. I guess I'll always be a B/A shipper.

Bored Now. (hehe ... everytime I say that now, I think of bad Willow. I liked bad Willow - it was great to see Alyson Hannigan "expand" her character and acting abilities.)

A few neat websites:

- First Nine Months -- cute flash website about how a baby forms and grows during the nine months inside mom's tummy. (the author made the website while his wife was pregnant with their first child -- it's cute)

- The Spark -- some REALLY hilarious stuff. Some gross "I purposely got atheletes foot" articles a long with several silly tests. It's a great time-waster.

- PromoPlates -- this isnt a well-designed site -- but I think it would be cool to have one of those with www.silverstrawberry.com -- cute! I already have one of those license plate 'frames' with silver strawberry on it.

I'm feeling a bit icky now and going to go lay down ... don't you hate that when you just suddenly feel sick ... yuck.

Plugs

Kristy
Just logging on long enough to plug a few sites that I've been browsing today. All of them are pretty interesting - (don't miss Lauryn's site which has a HUGE collective of links to tutorials & resources for web designers). I've also been a bit of a "test taker" today -- click here to see a few of my results. (On a side note ... just saw Sarah Michelle Gellar on Letterman. I love SMG but she totally came off as an airhead tonight. I'm sure it's just the cold & all the traveling they're doing with Scooby and promoting the movie. She looked pretty though!)
