I'm "rebooting" this site this week - implementing a new design, condensing my stylesheets and reworking some of the code - so some things might be a little wonky (yes that's a technical term). It's been a while since my last redesign -- and this one is definitely the darkest I've ever gone. I've been having fun with Photoshop CS2. If you haven't upgraded ... it is SO worth it. GREAT upgrade. (And the Illustrator upgrade is worth it's weight in gold. It's FANTASTIC. Just go for the whole suite. Great investment.)
So back to the reboot - it's dark and grungy - but I like it. It's my first departure from an 800x600 friendly design. I am so tired of the huge expanse of wasted space. If you have your screen set at that resolution, you're going to horizontal scroll. While I would never design a site for a client that isn't 800x600 friendly (because the average computer user uses the resolution their computers came out of the box set at, and until recently everything shipped with 800x600 native) - my stats for THIS site show that 99.9% of my traffic views this site on at least 1024x768 (and then there are people like me - my screen resolution is 1280x960!) If you're still at 800x600 ... what is wrong with you? Don't you know how many pixels you're missing???
So - it's Silverberry Rebooted, Bigger and Darker (with a little more cowbell).

Me like. Very cool.
Now all you need is a personal logo.
Oh, and thanks for rubbing it in about CS2. I'm still proud of my recently-acquired CS.
Very nice, I like it a lot! At first I thought I'd clicked the wrong name in my bookmarks, but nope! And I love how you did the 1024 spread. I was thinking of doing that too... I can't imagine too many people use 800, and if they do, well, they need to switch, scroll, or not visit. Colors are lovely too - great job.
It looks gorgeous - but then, everything you do does. =P
V xx
Very nice design, as always. It's a long way from your red-headed girl on the swing, isn't it? But I like it.
As for 800x600, there's one thing that you have to keep in mind - newsreaders. Some of us rarely use a browser to view the site anymore. When you're visiting in a newsreader, you lose horizontal space to the left-hand pane (kind of like email). Though the problem is mitigated because you use full-text previews in your XML file. In fact, had you not posted that you had redesigned the site, I would never have known, reading all your content in plain black and white! :D So it's really only a problem when newsreader visitors come to the site to comment. But then again, they're not just "browsing" when they're coming to comment, so a little scrolling isn't too bad.
Ramble ramble. :moped:
Katherine ... you always make me laugh. And my CS2 can kick your CS's butt. Mwuah ha haha. Seriously ... it's worth the $149 upgrade just for the photoshop. It makes me want to :sing:!
Addie ... Thanks ;) I am just SOOOO tired of 800 designs. It's everywhere -- and I'm tired of having like 4-5 inches of wasted space on either side of every single page I visit. I say screw the 800x600'ers out there -- they need to get with it anyway. :whip:
Vix ... awww thanks .... I still LOVE your furious angel pot!! Everytime I see it I laugh.
Jeff ... I wish everyone would do full-text previews in their RSS feeds. It would make life so much easier.
 Excellent I am loving your re-design. Nice red layout.
Looks very nice!
