Being snooty in Martha's Vineyard

| | Comments (8)

Another Monday. Wouldn't it be cool if the week started on Tuesday? Ended on Thursday? At least this week is a short week for me. On Friday, we're flying up to Boston for a wedding. (I have been friends with the bride since 7th grade -- and she's been dating this guy for almost 7 years now. It is way past time for this wedding to take place!!) I'm adding another bridesmaid dress to my ever-growing collection. This one is maroon satin with a kind of weird back -- it's got little buttons down the back, but parts of the back are open (as in you can see my back). Hopefully we won't freeze to death. The wedding is outside. In Boston. In October. :uhh: At least its not December! After the wedding on Saturday, we're driving down and spending two days in Martha's Vineyard/Hyannis/Nantucket. I can't wait. We soooo need a nice break -- and I've always wanted to see what the big deal is about Martha's Vineyard. And it's kinda funny when people ask where we're going this weekend ... and I try to say nonchalantly -- "oh we're spending a few days in Martha's Vineyard".

We spent this past weekend down at my parents-- and were able to visit with both sets of grandparents and my precious neice as well. It's always a busy weekend when we go down -- because there are just too many people to see and not enough time. Everyone goes through this when they move away from home though.

I'm going to a college reunion in November -- it's not for my graduating year, but for my sorority. They've started doing yearly "reunions" -- which is actually kind of nice. The current roster plans everything and all we have to do is show up. It's great to get to see everyone and catch up -- so I've made the effort to go to it for the past two years. We all live all over the world and keep up via email ... but I probably wouldn't see most of these people if not for the reunions. So it's a nice thing.

Alias. I do NOT like Vaughn's wife. Although, as I've stated before, even if she was Princess-Nice-n-Sweet I wouldn't like her because she's got Sydneys man. And I'm wondering if they are going to have Weiss and Syd in a relationship? Or is he going to be her new Will. Good friends and thats it. And lastly, let me reiterate that Sark is hot!

Hi, I found your site from a link on Jeff's blog, though I think I've been here before. Anyways, I wanted to say I've been going to Martha's Vineyard every summer since I was a baby. I love it there. It'll be a lot more quiet when you're there, but here's a few recommendations for you to check out:
-the Gay Head cliffs, very pretty
-drive or walk back into the campgrounds in Oak Bluffs to see all of the gingerbread houses that aren't on the postcards
-the Field Gallery. very fun statues, especially if you run around and pose like them and take pictures
-get some Murdick's Fudge. Or Chilmark Chocolates. Both are very yummy.
-if you're looking for a place to eat I recommend Lola's outside of Oak Bluffs. Great food, southern seafood. Esp. their angel hair onion rings.
-the water is actually supposed to be warmest in September/October, so if you're feeling courageous I recommend a swim
-and just drive around. there are a million little things to stumble across. and the locals are usually very nice, so if you need any help finidng anything just ask :-)

See all the traffic I bring you, Lacy? It's because I'm so popular. :uhh:

Martha's Vineyard sounds nice. I'm very jealous of your mini-vacation. I need some time off.

Oh, and can I just say "angel hair onion rings" sound fantastic?

 wow ... thanks Jackie! I'm printing out your comment to take with us! It's always nice to have someone who's been there to tell you what you HAVE to see!!!!

And I have to agree with Jeff, the angel hair onion rings sound heavenly.
